Research looked at by the Uni of Kent's found flexible workers who can move their start and end hours are looked down on by their colleagues.

Data from the government's Work Life Balance Survey in 2011 shows a fifth of workers' careers were negatively affected by being flexible.

The majority of men believed their colleagues with different hours made more work for them.

Dr Heejung Chung is a Reader at the Uni and analysed the data.
