Ambassador Thomas Hushek explains Sanctions and US Priorities for South Sudan

[...] "If we don’t have people that are trying to supply weapons or other services to the armed forces, we hope that will take away the incentive for those armed forces to stop fighting.”

That is what the US Ambassador to South Sudan, Thomas Hushek said in response to the latest sanctions announcement by the United States Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control  on three private individuals.

The three sanctioned individuals are; Israel Ziv, Obac William Olawo, and Gregory Vasili Yaloris. They are believed to profited from the conflict in South Sudan through what has been described as Predatory behavior.  

“Our priority is ending the conflict, having lasting peace and resolving many of the humanitarian challenges, so that we can get back on track towards building a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan," said Ambassador Hushek.
