A British Midland flight from London Heathrow to Belfast International crashed onto the M1 motorway embankment near the village of Kegworth as it tried to make an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport. 47 people died, including 29 from Northern Ireland. 74 people were seriously injured. Dessie Clarke was only 22 when he was involved in the crash. He and two friends Lesley Bloomer and Mervyn Finlay had been taking part in the London boat show and were returning to Belfast. Dessie has since developed Huntington's disease and has problems with his speech. Vinny has been speaking to his daughter Ashley.
