USGS McNutt ICWP Water Census and WaterSmart making water policy ready

USGS and our many partners have been aquiring information but not always in a format that's made it easy for water managers and policy makers to trasnlate that information into decisions. I believe what we're doing with the water census and watersmart is taking that information and making it more policy ready and more audience friendly so that they can answer questions such as how does water quality trade off with water quantity. will i have enough water now for the uses for which i need it and will i have enough water in the future.these are the questions they need to answer. just because there's a lot of water flowing in a stream right now doesn't tell them that there's enough water in the quality they need and when they need it.
