There was a strange incident in October of 2018. The CBI, or Central Bureau of Investigation, arrested one of its investigating officers and conducted searches at its own headquarters after registering a case against its second top official, Rakesh Asthana. Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Kumar was charged with falsifying the statement of a Hyderabad-based businessman in order to implicate CBI director Alok Verma.
