BMX Special: Charlotte Worthington

Jan 20, 2019, 07:00 AM

Alasdair Hooper hosts a BMX Special with British Cycling athlete, and World Class Programme member, Charlotte Worthington.

The last 12 months have proved to be quite a year for the 22-year-old from Manchester.

She started 2018 working 40 hours a week as a chef but ended it as part of British Cycling's BMX team - with BMX Freestyle Park set to make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020.

Making the Games is Charlotte's long term goal but there is plenty more to achieve in the short term - both in terms of workload and perfecting her skills.

With the discipline's inclusion at the Olympics bound to increase its coverage, Charlotte is also making waves in a sport widely considered a man's world.

While peoples' perceptions may be geared towards the man's side of BMX, Charlotte is showing everyone that the girls are just deserving of their place in the spotlight.
