80 killed in Tonj State cattle raid as Governor appeals for restraint

More than 80 people have been killed and 30 others injured in a series of cattle raids in Tonj state. Armed youth stormed four cattle camps belonging to the Luac-Jang community in Tonj East, and opened fire on their victims, including women and children, and stole an unspecified number of cows. 

 The incident has prompted massive displacement of civilians into nearby bushes. 

Tonj State information minister, James Bath Ayiek says security has been stepped up in hotspot areas along the border with Northern Liech state.
