Tuesday Teaching Tips: "Awesome Apollos", Part 2, "True Teachers are Self-Motivated"

“When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Messiah.” (Acts 18:27–28 NIV11)

1. Learned man

2. Self-motivated

    1. Took initiative - aim to be a great help 

    2. "He began to speak boldly in the synagogue."

    3. "Apollos wanted to go to Achaia"

1. Correction comes in the context of action - P & A only able to correct because he was teaching

2. Direction comes in the context of action - expressed desire, found people willing. “When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.” (Acts 18:27 NIV11)

3. You don’t need permission, you need conviction
