Honda of Westport Couples Court- Why does he not want his girlfriend to take public transportation?

His girlfriend just got a great new job in the city but it's all the way down in the Financial district. Her plan is to take Metro North then hop the subway. He says he wants her to drive, he'll even pay for her monthly parking. It's not that more expensive then a monthly train pass. He says that she's a smart girl when it comes to balancing Excel sheets but is oblivious to things like the Subway- and he just doesn't think it's safe for her. She thinks he's being an overprotective boyfriend and she's 25, she'll figure out how to do it. Who's side are you on?
