UN Mine Action Service marks destruction of one millionth explosive item in South Sudan

The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), will today destroy two large 50kg air-dropped bombs at Jebel Lemun area in Blinyang 15 Kilometers South of Juba.
Wednesday’s destruction will bring the total number of explosives items destroyed by UNMAS in the country to one million since 2004.
The two bombs were discovered at mangateen area and defused by UNMASS and its partners earlier this month.
Richard Boulter, Program Manager of the UN Mine Action Service explains more about today’s operation.
