SRSG David Shearer Press Briefing in New York 05.02.2019

SPLM/SPLA-IO leader Riek Machar says he is committed to returning to Juba in May under a power-sharing deal.

UN Special Representative and head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), David Shearer told a news conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday that he met with Machar at his exiled home in Khartoum last week to discuss plans for a transitional government expected to be set up in May, to pave way for elections.

Mr. Shearer said Machar’s return would mark a "critical juncture" toward setting up the transitional government.
