Should the over 75s be made to pay for their TV licence?

A fifth of the entire BBC budget. That's what it could cost the organisation - if it has to absorb the financial hit - of ending free TV licences for people over 75. The public consultation on the issue comes to an end today. The BBC is taking over the scheme from the Government in 2020. No longer will the government pay in - so now, it's either the BBC or the pensioners themselves.
