UNDP Chief, Ahunna Eziakonwa Onochie, says Investing in Peace should go beyond Funding

The visiting Head of the UNDP Africa Office, Ahunna Eziakonwa Onochie says investing in peace should go beyond funding to include building the confidence of the population in the peace process.

The Assistant Secretary-General is wrapping up a visit to South Sudan along with the Director for the UNDP Crisis Bureau. In an exclusive interview with the Radio Miraya Breakfast Program, Ms Onochie said investing in the people is critical to a sustainable peace process.

The Director for the UNDP Crisis Bureau, Ms. Asako Okai says strengthening core financial institutions is essential to moving the country forward. Speaking on the same program, the Assistant Secretary-General said the UN Development Program is working with the government to improve public finance management to ensure services reach the people as they recover from crisis.
