Former DUP Health Minister Edwin Poots has suggested introducing voluntary prescription charges to help for expensive drugs. He suggested putting boxes in every pharmacy.

His comments come after the government announced that the cost of prescriptions in England is to rise to £9.

Prescription charges were abolished in Northern Ireland by former Health Minister Michael McGimpsey from 1st April 2010.
