Is it 'legitimate' for people to not want children because of climate change?

There's many factors people take into account before deciding to bring children into the world: their relationship, their finances, their health, but some people are now also considering the state of the planet. US democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez caused a stir on social media recently by saying it is 'legitimate' for people to not want children because of climate change. Are people really that scared about climate change that they put off having children? Or is it responsible to think of the type of world we could be bringing children into?
