SRSG David Shearer briefs UN Security Council on South Sudan

SRSG David Shearer tells the UN Security Council, that  continued regional support will be needed to drive the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan forward and ensure that it is adequately resourced.

“The peace agreement is far from perfect,” Mr. Shearer told the Security council, “but it is the one that we have in front of us today … the cost of failure is unthinkable.”

Mr. Shearer outlined the developments in South Sudan, the challenges, opportunities, and the way forward.
