Silver Springs Steel

Scissors Spring reimagined by Jay Kreimer.

"The rhythmic bubbling of the breathing earth in the scissor springs (#12) recording asked for a simple anchor in the bass range with ripples up above. I just finished sound work for a large sculpture and weaving addressing the Platte River; water’s on my mind. I played an instrument of my own making that incorporates a bass string and a tuned steel spring. Both are stopped by a steel in the manner of a steel guitar. I analyzed the pitches in the original recording and built some plucking patterns in a soft synth in Ableton."
