New Measles Alert after 500 cases and 4 deaths are recorded

Health authorities in the country have issued a measles alert after 500 cases of measles were detected in parts of the country.

Measles, a highly contagious disease that causes skin rash and fever has been reported in Abyei, Gogorial West, Mayom, Melut and Juba.

In severe cases, measles can lead to sometimes fatal complications such as pneumonia and brain inflammation.

To find out what the Ministry for health is doing to avert the possible spread of measles, Radio Miraya’s Henry Lokuri spoke with Dr. Ademe Ayesheshem, WHO surveillance officer.
