Laura Millar - Sexual Health and Education for People With Disabilities

Disability Guru, Dr. Michelle Hernandez interviews today's guest, Laura Millar.

Laura Millar researches and teaches sexual health for people with disabilities. She is deeply committed to ensuring that sexual health information and services are comprehensive and accessible for everyone. As a legally blind woman, Laura began this work with the goal of empowering people with vision impairments to engage in dating, sex, and intimacy. From there, her passion and expertise have expanded to educating people with all disabilities, to help them comfortably navigate intimacy and physical relationships. 

Laura completed her Master of Public Health and Master of Human Sexuality, then joined Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco to develop unprecedented sexual health education programs. Since leaving Lighthouse, Laura has been a sexual education coach and educator, as well as a community organizer for groups related to sexuality for people with disabilities. She is also an outspoken advocate for disability rights and queer rights. 

Laura’s current services include group education and one-on-one coaching. Training programs are available for teachers, trainers, group facilitators, and for people with disabilities and their family members. She can be reached atlaura@lauramillar.com
