Parliament is demanding a swift investigation into the murder of the Member of Parliament representing workers, Simon Deng Bol who was shot and killed while on a peace mission in Central Upper Nile.
The Transitional National Legislative Assembly today paid special tribute to the fallen MP. Chairperson of the House information committee, Paul Yoane Bonju said all flags in Parliament will fly at half-mast for three days in his honour and said the perpetrators must face justice.
Paul Yoane Bonju said the killing of the MP will not discourage the Members of Parliament from disseminating the peace agreement.
Simon Deng Bol and other state officials were returning to Nasir town from Mandeng where they held a meeting with SPLA-IO members when their boat came under an attack by gunmen on the Sobat River.
A security officer escorting the delegation was also killed and two others including a boat captain were wounded.
