A new water project at the Bidi-Bidi refugee camp in Uganda is set to provide clean water access to more than six thousand refugees.
The project will see an increase in water supply to each individual from 14 to 20 litres and will come as a relief to the refugees who have been walking up to one kilometre in search of clean water.
The generator-powered project is being implemented by UN refugee agency – UNHCR, and the Coca-Cola bottling company.
UNHCR Communications Officer, Duniya Khan says the plant will be fully operational by May.
Bidibidi camp is one of the largest refugee settlements in Uganda hosting close to 200,000 refugees from South Sudan.
Duniya Khan spoke to Susan Dokolo.
