Erection of Parachute Regiment flags in towns across NI branded "hate crime" by Bloody Sunday families.

If you've driven through Newtownards, Larne, Carrickfergus or Cookstown recently, you may have noticed a number of new flags and banners appearing on lamposts. The distinctive symbol of the Parachute Regiment is being displayed in some areas in support of Soldier F. The former Para has been charged with the murders of James Wray and William McKinney, who were shot dead on Bloody Sunday in January 1972. Parachute Regiment flags have also been spotted in parts of Belfast and Londonderry where some relatives of the Bloody Sunday victims have described the flying of the flags as a "hate crime".
