The day observed annually on the 8th of May is to salute the selfless contribution and bravery of Red Cross volunteers and their service to humanity across the world. It also marks the birthday of the movement’s founder - Henry Dunant.

In South Sudan a national ground-breaking event is underway at Nyakuron cultural Centre in Juba.

Celebrations will be held in different locations across the country.

In commemoration of the day, Irene Lasu had a chat with Pascal Ladu Red Cross media coordinator and Joseph Lukak, Red Cross branch manager for Jubek state.
