Patients facing waits for bedpans, basic observations not being carried out and dying patients not getting proper care. That's the shocking state of our health service according to Director of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). Pat Cullen blames serious staffing shortages, ignored warnings and a large disparity in pay between here, and the rest of the UK and Ireland are behind the major issues. She says nursing is now in crisis after successive health ministers and civil servants ignored the college's warnings of a "perfect storm".
