The 'ENT' podcast! From snoring through to recurrent ear infections. When do children need to see a specialist?

Episode 7,   May 14, 2019, 11:47 AM

Paediatric ENT surgeon, Mr George Sim, is the perfect person to ask about chronic ear and throat problems that can affect children.  We will explore why some children get more ear infections than others and when treatment is needed. Can a child lose hearing from repeated ear infections?

Repeated throat infections can also be important to manage. Enlarged tonsils or adenoids could be involved. These can cause ‘sleep disordered breathing’ which is an important symptom to recognise (symptoms such as snoring, mouth breathing, choking, restlessness at night).  This can lead to other developmental or behavioural problems due to the poor quality sleep. If in doubt seek support from your GP to decide if it is worth pursuing advice from an ENT specialist.
