President Kiir’s full speech at TNLA opening

President Salva Kiir officially opened the Transitional National Legislative Assembly today, in a speech that focused on the peace process and the way forward for its implementation. 

The Parliament officially resumes business for its 2nd session of 2019, after a four-month recess which the legislators used to sensitize their constituents on the revitalized peace agreement. 

In his address to the joint sitting of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly and the Council of States, President Kiir reaffirmed his commitment to the peace process and extended an olive branch to opposition leader Riek Machar, inviting him to return to Juba to implement the peace deal.

President Salva Kiir also said he would review the National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC) if-need-be, the push the peace process further.
