The past few days have seen a heavy deployment on the streets of Juba, promoting public concern about the security situation in the national capital.

The deployments came after reports that a section of youth was planning anti-government demonstrations, demanding the resignation of the President.

The messages, believed to have been initiated in the diaspora, spread like wildfire on social media.

The Ministry of Interior came out on Thursday to reassure the public that the security situation in Juba is calm and under control.
Police spokesperson Maj Gen Daniel Justin says the heavy deployment of security forces and an ongoing search operation is to safeguard residents of the national capital.

The police spokesperson also appealed to the public to disregard reports on social media of planned anti-government demonstrations.

Maj Gen Daniel Justin spoke to Sani Martin in this interview.
