We'd all like to do more to help the environment and that includes cutting down on our food waste.
As retailers and consumers, we're throwing away food that we think is out of date or isn't fresh, when actually it's safe to eat.
This means we waste money, create more plastic waste, increase our carbon footprint and add more methane to our atmosphere.
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Firat Guder, from Imperial College London, to learn more about his low tech, but highly accurate, freshness detector that can be packaged with food and is accessible for those with visual impairments.
