Norway’s Special Envoy to Sudan and South Sudan says a drop in political violence in South Sudan since of the revitalized deal last September brings hope to the people of South Sudan.

Ambassador Erling Skjonsberg welcomes the progress since the signing but is concerned about the slow progress in implementation of the agreement and calls on parties to speed up the accomplishment of tasks.

“Many opposition politicians are back in South Sudan and this is positive and there is political dialogue going on,” he said.

“At the same time, I am a bit concern that the implementation of the peace agreement is delayed and I think it is important to speed up this implementation.”

Ambassador Skjonsberg who visited Khartoum before coming to Juba said a stable Sudan would positively influence the peace process in South Sudan.

He spoke to Irene Lasu in this interview.
