The Ministry of Health has dispatched an emergency Ebola response team to Yei River state following a confirmed case of the deadly disease in Ariwara town, in the northern Democratic Republic of Congo, just 70 kilometers from the border with South Sudan.

The incident manager for the national task force for Ebola preparedness and response, Dr. Richard Lino Laku says the ministry is ramping up screening and the International Organisation for Migration has stepped up tracking of movements across the border.

Dr. Laku confirms there is no Ebola in South Sudan but cautions of the high risk since the confirmed case in the busy border area.

The registered case is a 40-year-old woman who traveled 500 kilometers from Beni, in Congo's North Kivu province, according to Congolese officials.

Meanwhile Dr. Laku says donors have raised $4mln of a $12mln appeal for the second phase of Ebola preparedness.

He spoke to Nelson Lwak in this interview.
