Technical fault grounds flights at Juba International Airport

Episode 953,   Jul 08, 2019, 06:21 AM

Regular flights have resumed at Juba International Airport after interruption on Saturday due to a fault at the control tower.

Airport Director Kur Kuol Kur told Radio Miraya that all incoming and outgoing flights were grounded for several hours after the control tower communication system broke down.

In a separate development, the management at Juba International Airport has issued a directive banning the public from accessing the runway.

Airport Director Kur Kuol Kur says it is a common practice to see people walk up to aircraft to receive the caskets of their deceased relatives – while in other cases herders are known to graze their animals near landing and take-off areas.

Kur says this tarnishes the image of the airport and says a notice banning public access will be circulated to flight service providers and the general public.

The Airport Director spoke to Alex Agole in this interview and started by asking him about the technical fault that grounded flights.
