“We need to rekindle the spirit of unity,” analyst perspective on Independence

Episode 954,   Jul 08, 2019, 11:13 AM

On the eve of South Sudan’s 8th Independence anniversary, a political analyst says the country and its people must reflect on the journey to independence and rekindle the spirit of unity.

Andrea Mach says South Sudan has made some gains but lost track along the way.

He is reminding the people to recall why they sought for freedom and strive to renew their nationalism.

Andrea said the best hope for lifting the country out of the doldrums of the peace process lies in the leaders implementing the peace deal and the people making a conscious effort to reconcile and unite.

“Now that we got Independence, we need to unite as one people and encourage our brothers and sisters Thomas Cirilo and Pagan Amum, to join the peace process,” he said.

Andrea Mach spoke to Sebit William in this interview.
