South Sudan witnesses first-ever livestock competition

The first-ever livestock show and cattle competition in South Sudan, is set for Rumbek this week.
Farmers will display their animals to compete for the top prize of the best looking and most healthy cow or goat.
The event will take place on Wednesday and Thursday and is being organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in partnership with the national and state Ministries of Animal Resources.
The objective of the show is to promote the breeding, raising and marketing of healthy livestock but more importantly change mindsets and introduce livestock owners to the economic potential of animal rearing.
Sebit William sat down with Dr. Nemaya Mogga, a livestock officer with FAO and Dr. Leah Tingley, an American veterinary doctor with the US Veterinary Corps to find out more about this competition.
