On Wednesday 3rd July 2019 I attended Norwich Magistrates Court in response to a summons I had received from the court on behalf of Norwich City Council (NCC).

While at the Court I recorded a conversation I had with a NCC rep. Initially, he had expressed some reservations when I asked to record the conversation. However, when I assured him that he would remain anonymous he consented to the recording.

The interview begins with a clarification of why I had been summoned to the court. I thought it was mainly to do with a disputed housing benefit over-payment.

Instead I was told that that matter was not related to the summons I received at all. I was told that the summons was entirely about my non-payment of council tax to NCC.

I therefore then explained that I had stopped paying my council tax as a matter of principal, so that I could have my day in court.
