Figures seen by kmfm have revealed motorists convicted of causing death by dangerous driving in Kent are generally serving between five and seven years behind bars.

The government pledged to bring in life sentences for drivers who cause a fatal crash by speeding, racing or using a mobile phone in 2017 - but so far they haven't been introduced.

60 people have been convicted of causing death by dangerous driving in Kent over the past decade - 57 went straight to jail while three were given suspended sentences.
