Episode 978,   Jul 31, 2019, 07:58 AM

Human Rights Watch has issued a report calling on the government of South Sudan to release six airport workers who have been held without trial since 2018.

The report says National Security personnel arrested the individuals at various times in November on fraud allegations.

The report by the rights watchdog identifies the arrested as David Subek Dada, the chief executive officer of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, David Lado Laki, Simon Lokonga, Jackline Ibrahim and Mercy Lalam.

The government has not responded to the report.

Associate Africa director at Human Rights Watch, Jehanne Henry says this case is one of many unlawful detentions by security agents.

She spoke to Radio Miraya’s Nelson Lwak in this 6” interview.
