The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) says there has been a general improvement in the human rights situation in the country since the signing of the revitalized peace agreement in September last year.
The Director of the UNMISS Human Rights Division, Eugene Nindorera says abuses have significantly gone down with the reduction in political violence.
Mr. Nindorera notes pockets of violence in the Equatoria region and loss of lives through inter-communal violence.
Mr. Nindorera is however concerned about the ongoing arbitrary arrests by National Security personnel, calling for the respect of rights and following of due legal process for all suspects.
The Human Rights Chief spoke to Irene Lasu about the general human rights situation.
