Episode 75 - Bills/Panthers Wrap up

Episode 15,   Aug 17, 2019, 12:00 PM

After a week of practice together, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 of the Preseason by score of 27-14. The Bills' starters showed up this evening, both offense and defense, showing excellent team chemistry on-field and executing their plays relatively effectively.
Josh Allen had one of his better passing games against the Panthers defense, who sat some of their star defenders. Regardless of who played, Josh Allen's ability to make his reads quickly, as well as getting the ball out of his hands even quicker, leaves continued optimism for his personal growth from last season to now. Allen finished the evening 9-for-11 on completions with 102 yards in the air.
Allen made strong connections with his receiving corp as well, including two big catches for Rookie Tight End Tommy Sweeney. The 7th Round Pick from Boston College has made the most of his time with Buffalo's first string offense, in the absence of several others ahead of him on the depth chart.
Cole Beasley caught five passes on five targets from Allen as well, furthering Beasley's chemistry with Josh, as well as his emergence as one of Buffalo's premier receivers in 2019. LeSean McCoy also had some receptions from Josh Allen, as well as an up-the-gut TD to score the games first points.
The Defense continued its solid run, putting pressure on the Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey-less Panthers offense. First and second string excelled. Kevin Johnson had a 70-yard pick six, Ed Oliver disrupted the offense while battling two Panthers lineman, and overall, the depth continues to shine. Buffalo has the potential to be a Top 5 Defense again, and most importantly, improve upon last years results.
