Episode 76 - Bills vs Lions recap Preseason Week 3

Episode 16,   Aug 24, 2019, 05:00 PM

The Buffalo Bills have improved to three wins on the preseason this year, with a 24 - 20 victory over the Detroit Lions. It wasn't pretty by any means, as the game was marred with sloppy play, injuries and penalties, but optimists should see the game as a plus for Buffalo's resiliency. Winning games when little is going according to plan, is the difference between "In the Hunt" or "In the Playoffs" come Week 17.
Buffalo focused on their rushing attack this week, led by LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore. Fans watching were able to see the explosiveness that makes McCoy a quality RB. While that was a different turn for the offense, which has been very pass happy for the first 2 weeks of preseason, Josh Allen still struggled a bit while passing, including a bad, across the body pass that was picked off. Luckily for him, a "roughing the passer" penalty canceled it out.
The Bills defense played against their first starting QB this preseason, and were definitely challenged. Matt Stafford had a pretty solid day passing against the Bills' secondary, providing a good look at what improvements need to be made. Buffalo excelled in the run defense however, at all levels, only allowing just over 100 yards total on the ground.
