Floods threaten to make worse an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis

Up to 200,000 people have been cut off by severe flooding in Maban.
United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has dispatched emergency humanitarian assistance to some five thousand most-affected families.
UNHCR Senior Protection Officer, Shybhash Wostey, says supplies will continue to be delivered as access is made easier.
In a related development, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is conducting emergency aerial and land assessments in Maban and Pibor, which is facing similar flooding, to understand the impact of the floods in the two areas.
The Medical charity group was forced to reduce its life-saving services and discharge patients in Pibor, after their hospital and compound were completely flooded.
Constrained by road blockages, humanitarian partners are using boats and traveling on foot to affected communities.
Dr. Kot Bol Nyuar, Director General for refugee protection in the South Sudan Refugee Commission and Shrubhash Wostey, UNHCR Senior Protection Officer spoke to Radio Miraya about he extent of damage.
