As the November 12th deadline for the formation of a unity government fast approaches, a civil society
activist is asking the military arms of the parties to declare a joint position on the status of the transitional security arrangements.
Edmund Yakani of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) says the status of the security arrangements and formation of a VIP protection force are critical determinants of the formation of the unity government.
Yakani points at political differences regarding allocation of ministerial portfolios as other factors stalling the process.
In this interview he starts by applauding a recent meeting of IGAD Special Envoys that was convened in Djibouti as a positive move.
