Mediators of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have called a consultative meeting of the leadership of the Parties to the Revitalized Peace Agreement to evaluate and assess the status of the agreement.
The meeting scheduled for this Friday 8th November in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, will deliberate on the way forward with regard to outstanding critical pre-transitional tasks.
The SPLM-IO in a statement seen by Radio Miraya, has accepted the invitation and confirmed their participation, with the aim of hopefully achieving full, comprehensive and sustainable peace.
A civil society activist, Edmund Yakani of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation is asking the parties to avoid unilateral decisions and use the meeting to reach a consensus on pending issues.
He also asked the public not to panic with the November 12th deadline for the end of the Pre-Transitional period just days away.
Radio Miraya spoke to Edmund Yakani in this interview.
