President Salva Kiir has asked the people of South Sudan to accept the 100-day extension of the Pre-Transitional period, that was agreed at a tripartite meeting in Uganda.

Speaking on return from Uganda at Juba International Airport, President Kiir said he was honest and sincere in his determination to establish the new government on 12th November as planned but compromised with the SPLM-IO to avert possible war.

The President said a review meeting after 50 days will evaluate the implementation process. The two Principals reached an agreement to postpone the formation of a new coalition government to February 12, 2020 at a six-hour closed-door discussion in Uganda.

The meeting was at the invitation of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni and attended by Sudan’s Abdalfatah Alburhan and Kenya Special Envoy Kalonzo Musyoka.
