IGAD Special Envoy updates on South Sudan peace process

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), as mediators to the South Sudan peace agreement confirms that the government has released an additional $40 mln for the implementation of pending tasks within the one-hundred-day extension of the Pre-Transitional period.
The latest disbursement comes as the international community put pressure on the government to meet its pledges to enable speedy training of the Necessary Unified Forces. I
This brings the total amount of money released for peace implementation to more than half of the 100 mln US dollars that was pledged by the government.
The pre-interim committee previously proposed a budget of 285 million US dollars to also cover the activities of its sub-committees and the national constitutional amendment committee.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya in Juba, the IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wias also confirmed the arrival of two representatives of a new security mechanism established at a tripartite meeting in Uganda, hosted by Uganda President Yoweri Museveni and attended by President Salva kiir and SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar.
