IGAD summit expected to table Machar's status today

An ordinary summit of the IGAD Heads of State and government is expected to take place tomorrow in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with South Sudan expected to feature highly on the agenda. The SPLM-IO party confirms that their Chairperson, Dr Riek Machar is already in Addis. The IGAD summit is expected to deliberate on several issues including the status of the main armed opposition leader who has been under what the SPLM-IO describes as an ‘illegal detention’ since July 2016. IGAD Special Envoy Ambassador Ismail Wais told Radio Miraya that Machar’s confinement will be brought up.
