The South Sudan government has reacted to a report by the Washington D.C. based Sentry group; an affiliate of the Enough Project, published in September this year, detailing what it called “the carving up for private profit of the most lucrative economic and government sectors in the world’s youngest nation”.
Briefing the media this morning, spokesperson to President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Ateny Wek Ateny said the evidence that the Sentry provides is weak.
Mr Ateny said there is no evidence showing that the president owns the companies cited in the Sentry Report. He further clarified that many of the businesses mentioned in the Sentry report have since collapsed and are no longer dealing with South Sudan.
