Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly has resigned.
Anthony Lino Makana tendered in his notice during an SPLM caucus meeting yesterday chaired by party chairman President Salva Kiir.
Makana gave in to pressure from the SPLM legislators to step down, to avoid possible impeachment over a string of allegations of mismanagement levied by the House Parliamentarians.
The Chairperson of the information committee in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Paul Yoanne Bonju confirmed the development to Radio Miraya and said the Equatoria caucus in Parliament will convene an emergency meeting today to start the process of selecting a replacement.
A section of MPs listed 12 accusations against Makana, including failing to properly manage Parliamentary affairs.
