The Joint Military Ceasefire Commission has dispatched teams to transport forces from cantonment sites to training areas. The first batch of nine teams left Monday morning for assembly points in Greater Bahr-El Gazel and Upper Nile regions to be followed by another team on Tuesday in the Equatoria region.
SPLM-IO Deputy spokesperson, Col. Lam Paul Gabriel confirms the development to Radio Miraya and says the ten teams have one week to complete the assignment, in preparation for the long-awaited training of the unified forces.
A total of 63,000 forces from the government and the SPLM in opposition have been registered ahead of the expected training.
In a separate development, the Deputy SPLM-IO Deputy spokesperson says they have not received any official communication from IGAD mediators that movement restrictions on their leader Dr Riek Machar have been lifted, as reported in sections of the media.
He spoke to Agole Alex in this interview.
