It's understood some families in Kent are being forced to almost halve how much they spend on their shopping so they can afford paying rent.

According to homeless charity Crisis, a family of four in places like Dartford and Gravesham have a shortfall of just over £27 - as they're housing benefit doesn't cover their rent.

It means they have around £31 to spend on groceries instead of the average weekly budget of 59 pounds.
