Temporary MOT exemption for drivers whose tests have been cancelled comes in to place this morning.
It applies to motorists whose MOTs have expired, or are soon to expire.
The DVA is inspecting MOT test centres after signs of cracking were discovered in 48 of 55 lifts, disrupting hundreds of tests.
